It all started with a dream of making vegan food more widely accepted and mainstream for Calgarians with a broad variety of lifestyles. Darian and Laine opened a food truck in June of 2018, and quickly fell in love with changing peoples' perceptions of what vegan food should taste like with comfort food favorites that just happen to be vegan. Fast forward two years, and here we are starting up Calgary's very first full service vegan restaurant!

Nestled in a small historic building in the Beltline, Vegan Street Kitchen & Lounge has character and a cozy atmosphere that makes everyone feel like home. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, enjoying good company, or just indulging in good food and drink, we look forward to meeting you and serving you at Vegan Street Kitchen & Lounge.

We have two kinds of patty for all of our burgers- Beyond Meat, and the People Food Know Meat Patty. When you choose the veggie patty, you are supporting an incredible local company with a product that is both healthy and delicious.


Ambrosia Leafy Greens

Ambrosia Leafy Greens grows their microgreens right here in Calgary. It is picked and delivered the same day for the freshest, nutrient dense, and visually stunning product.

Manuel Latruwe

When we started our food truck, we didn't want average store-bought bread. After extensive testing, we found Manuel Latruwe. To this day, he still custom makes and hand-delivers the softest vegan buns exclusively for Vegan Street.

Happy Belly Kombucha

With us from the beginning, Happy Belly Kombucha has always delivered on both their quality, creativity, and passion in their product. Their kombucha is brewed right here in Calgary, and the can deposit goes directly to the Alice Sanctuary.


From our humble beginnings, Coldgarden has supported our vision by allowing us to park our food truck at their tap room in the summer. We would always go in for a pint (or three) afterwards because a) they make fantastic beer and b) they are such down to earth cool people. It was only natural that they become one of our primary taps when the restaurant opened.


Cabin has supported us from the beginning, from allowing us to serve food at their brewery, to supplying us with refreshing pints after an event or festival with the food truck. We are proud to serve their beer both on tap and in the can.

Blindman Brewery

While not exactly Calgary, Lacombe's Blindman Brewery is absolutely worth the support, with its award winning brews, and even better people.

Grizzly Paw

Grizzly Paw has been our soda of choice from our food truck days. Not only are they local (Canmore) and plastic free, but they brew their sodas with real cane sugar, resulting in the most incredible flavor!

MOB Natural Foods

MOB Natural Foods is a local small business that specializes in fermented foods and hot sauces, among other things. Their raw ruby sauerkraut is unparalleled in flavor and nutrient density with a vibrant ruby color from the red cabbage, and all the good cultures for your gut health:) Try it on the Beyond Brat or with our house-made perogies every Thursday!

Ei8hty-Ei8ht Brewing

Another iconic brewery in Calgary, Ei8hty-Ei8ht brews damn good beer with rad '80s branding. We are proud to support this local gem.


We believe that the best caesars come with the best garnishes. That's why our housemade caesars are now garnished with Veghammer pepperoni. Veghammer is a true innovator in the vegan mheat and donut scene here in Calgary, and we are honored to use their product in house.

Wilflife Spirits

Another Canmore-based company, this distillery has some of the smoothest, most flavorful spirits we have tried. Try the barrel-aged gin for your next martini- it will not disappoint.

Tea Shop YYC

Jay & Brett, on top of being incredibly personable and kind, make the most delicious tea blends. All of our teas are custom and unique blends, like rootbeer chais, rosehip peppermint, or cream earl grey.

Ceres Solutions

Ceres Solutions is an innovative mushroom grower that supplies the blue oyster mushrooms we use for our kalamari. They grow on spent beer grains (no animal manure!), striving for a closed circuit manufacturing process.
